If you upgrade from Debian Squeeze to Debian Wheezy, you may have the following error at boot time in /var/log/messages :

Starting rpcbind daemon…rpcbind: Cannot open ‘/var/run/rpcbind/rpcbind.xdr’ file for reading, errno 2 (No such file or directory)

rpcbind: Cannot open ‘/var/run/rpcbind/portmap.xdr’ file for reading, errno 2 (No such file or directory)

Two solutions. If you do not need this service, then remove the corresponding package :

root@localhost:~# apt-get remove rpcbind

Or you can just desactivate it :

root@localhost:~# update-rc.d nfs-common removeĀ  && update-rc.d rpcbind remove
