Retrieving infos from a MP3 file

If you want to read the ID3 tags in a MP3 file or if you want to know the value of a technical attribute, I suggest you to install the mp3info package :

root@localhost:~# apt-get install mp3info

To get the bitrate of your MP3 file :

fool@localhost:~$ mp3info -x my_file.mp3
File: my_file.mp3
Media Type:  MPEG 2.0 Layer III
Audio:       160 kbps, 22 kHz (joint stereo)
